FlowDrya bark dryers are built to order at STRONGA's Hertfordshire factory and shipped to American sawmills and wood-processing sites; we hold no documented US bark installation yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Sawmills already run biomass boilers to kiln their lumber, so the surplus heat needed to dry bark is usually on site, and FlowDrya simply taps it. Drying turns a low-grade, hard-to-store residue that arrives at 56 to 65% moisture into clean, screened, uniform bark for the horticulture, landscaping and mulch trade, and the machine's sub-floor screening lifts soil and stones out during the drying pass so the finished product needs far less handling downstream.

Regulatory context

Not yet. We will not imply an American bark reference we do not hold; our documented projects dry bark, digestate fibre and woodchips in Britain, on the same platform a US bark dryer would use.
Can a sawmill use its own heat to dry bark?
Almost always. Sawmills run biomass boilers for lumber kilning, and FlowDrya is designed to reuse that surplus thermal energy, so bark drying adds little to the site's fuel bill.
What are dried bark's markets in America?
Screened dry bark sells into horticulture, decorative landscaping, playground surfacing and soil-conditioning blends, where clean, uniform, consistently dry fractions attract far higher prices than damp mill residue.
Does drying extend bark's shelf life?
Considerably. Wet bark self-heats, moulds and breaks down in the pile; dried bark stays stable, odour-free and saleable through the off-season, letting a mill hold inventory for peak landscaping demand.
Is bark drying viable without buying extra fuel?
Usually. The biomass boiler already installed for timber kilning supplies the heat, so the mill monetises a residue using thermal energy it is generating anyway.
Does FlowDrya reduce bark handling and labour?
