We build FlowDrya bark dryers to order at STRONGA's Hertfordshire works and ship them to sawmills and timber processors here, though no FlowDrya bark line is commissioned in the country yet. The country's plantation forestry generates large volumes of wet bark, and left green it rots in the pile, burns poorly and is costly to move. Not yet. We will not imply a reference we do not hold; our documented FlowDrya bark, woodchip and digestate lines run in Britain on the identical platform a mill here would take delivery of.
Why dry bark at all?
Green bark is wet, bulky and rots, and burns badly. Drying it raises the calorific value for a boiler, stabilises it for storage, and upgrades it into a saleable mulch or landscaping product rather than a disposal problem.
Can a sawmill run the dryer on its own heat?
Yes. The FlowDrya is designed to take recovered heat from the mill's existing biomass boiler or kiln exhaust, so bark is dried using energy the site already produces instead of expensive grid power.
